I always tell my clients that I’m up for whatever they are. Last weekend, that included getting up at 4:30AM on Saturday so we could be on our way to North Ave Beach by 5:30AM for the 6:11AM sunrise. We made it out to the beach on time (despite a malfunctioning parking gate, thanks City of Chicago!), but unfortunately the sun never appeared. We did have a beautiful, still morning with no rain and no one to bother us except a few dogs and the occasional runner. I love being out before the city wakes up, it’s such a great time to make pictures. I can’t wait to photograph Katie & Brian’s wedding on a rooftop overlooking Wrigley Field later this year. With a 1:20PM start, it will be much easier to manage.

Wow, getting up that early and smiling for pictures!! They are awesome! Love the city background.
It was my pleasure! I really enjoyed working with you and Brian. Can’t wait for the big day!
Thanks for waking up so early with us Pete! They look great. Can’t wait to see the rest of them.
I photographed Tracy & Chris’s wedding way back in October of 2007 (who ever thought 2007 would feel like a long time ago) and they recently called to set up a portrait session. We have stayed in touch over the years and they will always be one of my favorite couples. I don’t know anyone with more positive energy than Tracy and it always comes through in the images. Chris is a pitcher and Tracy has recently started catching for him so he can practice during the off season so we took some time at the end of the shoot to play a little catch. It was great to hang with you guys again, good luck this season!

and just for old times sake…

I’ve been meaning to do this for months, but here are a few random images from 2011. Some of them have been posted here before, some of them are new releases. This could be such a long post, I have so many favorites from last year. All of these images remind me of how lucky I am to have the pleasure of spending so many weekends with such great couples. Thank you to everyone for making 2011 so great and here’s to an amazing 2012!

El - Rashmi and Nikunj – you two are BEAUTIFUL together. Each picture is better than the last (which is hard to do since the first was perfection!). Thompson Weddings = your skill is obvious! FABULOUS job!!!
