• Hi! I'm Peter Wynn Thompson, welcome to my blog. This is the best place to find new images from my most recent weddings and engagement sessions and the occasional personal image. I'm always adding new images so check back often or become a fan on Facebook to receive updates. If you're looking for my main website, click the Portfolio link above. Thanks!

Phyllis & Peter

The other day I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Peter & Phyllis (who are both in their 70′s) at their friends’ home in Chicago. Peter & Phyllis live in Panama now, but decided to have friends and family from all over the world meet in Chicago for their wedding. As you can see from the photos, this is not your typical home. They have the largest private collection of photography in the world and when I wasn’t taking pictures, I was staring at original prints by Man Ray, Stieglitz, Richard Avedon, Dorthea Lange, Robert Frank, Diane Arbus and many, many more. This wasn’t the first time I’d been to this home, I actually photographed the owners a few years earlier for the Chicago Tribune. It was a real treat to return to this amazing home, especially for such a special occasion.

Christina & Jiro

Christina wanted her wedding to be outdoors, but the weather didn’t want to cooperate…at first. We waited out the rain, the staff at The Glenn Club dried everything off and Christina and Jiro were able to have a beautiful wedding outside just as the sun broke through the clouds. I’m glad she was so adamant because the pictures turned out beautifully and I love to photograph outdoor weddings.

Grand Opening!!!

Let me just start by saying that I’ve never blogged. I never thought I would have a blog, but I thought it was about time for me to share some of the fun stories from all of the weddings Thompson Wedding Photography has been covering over the past 6 years and let you know about events that are coming up. We’ve been a lot of fun places, met some amazing couples and had so much fun being a part of everyone’s wedding days and we can’t wait to see what happens next. One “first” that we’re really excited about is we have booked our first international wedding next Spring in Otterberg, Germany at an amazing 1000 year-old cathedral. It promises to be a great wedding and we can’t wait to do more weddings outside the country.

Please be patient while I get used to posting on a regular basis and I plan on adding photos, slide shows and anecdotes from lots of previous weddings. Thanks for visiting.

Carrie & Rob

Holy Famil Church, Chicago

I thought I’d photographed a wedding on a warm day. I was wrong. Holy Family Church in Chicago was doubling as a sauna last Saturday on Carrie & Rob’s wedding day. Luckily no one fainted, but I’m pretty sure I lost about 10 lbs during the ceremony alone and I can’t even imagine what it was like wearing a huge wedding dress, but I think the photo below gives you a pretty good idea.
